Mindfulness at Work: Trend or Authentic Well-Being?
Is mindfulness at work a genuine solution for employee well-being or just a corporate trend? We analyze its authentic impact.

Implementing mindfulness at work only succeeds when organizations build a foundation of shared purpose and genuine human connection. However, without addressing underlying toxic environments, meditation programs act merely as temporary band-aids. Therefore, authentic workplace well-being requires systemic organizational change alongside individual mindfulness practices.
Does mindfulness at work truly reduce stress in a toxic environment?
A recent Financial Times article, cited in Expansión, begins by answering this crucial question with a clear no. Indeed, the text addresses Jeffrey Pfeffer’s concept of social toxicity. He states: «(…) mindfulness does not modify the underlying cause of anxiety.» This is normally generated by management devoid of meaning, combined with low-quality communication and relationships. Furthermore, the article concludes with a powerful warning for modern companies: «(…) the next time you read about a company offering meditation rooms, do not praise them immediately. Instead, ask yourself: are they truly interested in their workers’ well-being?»
